Carpool
Each child will be provided with a colored nametag indicating in which
classroom they belong. Please place your nametag on a pant/skirt hangar
and hang it on the rear view mirror with the name of your child facing
out. This enables the staff to move more efficiently during carpool
by identifying each vehicle.
Two Carpool Lines
- Primary Classes: Half-circle drive in front
of the school
If you have a child in one of the Primary classrooms, please go through
the primary line which goes around the half-circle in front of the
school. Pull up as far as possible (all the way around to the yellow
line at the exit if you are the first vehicle) to keep traffic from
backing up on to Kelly Mill Road.
- Lower and Upper Elementary Classes: The drive to the
right of the main school building (beside Ms. Jahan's Classroom)
The
children in the Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary classrooms
will be in a new classroom building this year. Parents form a separate
lane that bears toward the right of Ms. Jahan's classroom when arriving
and picking up. You will then leave via the Basco's driveway. We
will walk Elementary children to their sidewalk.
For children with
siblings in the Primary classroom, at pick up time, we will have
the Elementary children go to their sibling's Primary classroom
to be dismissed and you will pick up both children in the Primary
class line. Please let us know if you would prefer your older child to remain in his/her class and drive through both lines.
Carpool Times
Morning Drop Off
All children arrive at school during the same carpool
morning drop off times. Children arriving after 9:00 am are disruptive
to their class, as work has already begun.
Afternoon Pickup
There are carpool afternoon pick
up times scheduled for your children based on when they are finished
at school. Those who are late picking up their children will be charged
$1 per minute, payable upon picking up your child.
Any child staying
for Lunch
Bunch or After Care must
be enrolled in the program in order to stay at school beyond their
classroom hours. Parents picking up children early
from Lunch Bunch (before 2:30 pm only) must
come into the ILMS Office and sign their children out for the day.
Otherwise, children in Lunch Bunch leave by way of the 2:30-3:00 pm
scheduled carpool. There is no carpool service for those who stay in
After Care (those who stay from 3:00-5:00 pm). Parents picking up their
children from After Care must come into the ILMS Office and
sign their children out for the day.

Carpool Rules
For the safety of our children and efficiency of our
carpool system, please observe the following rules:
- Always hang your child's name tag from your rear view mirror with
the name of your child facing out. Use the carpool line. Do not load
and unload students from the parking lot. It is unsafe for students
to cross between moving vehicles.PLEASE NOTE: If you must park, wait for a staff member to stop traffic and motion you out into the line when you leave.
- Form one line. Please pull as far around the driveway as possible
(in the Primary line, if you are the first car, pull up to the yellow
line near the exit). This will help us keep cars from backing up
on Kelly Mill Road.
- When you get to your place in line, put your
car in park.
- The staff will meet you at carpool and will help your child out
of the vehicle and into the classroom. Please remain in your vehicle
at all times.
- Often a child feels the need to hold on to a toy in order to get
out of the car in the morning. We understand this and will leave
the toy outside the room.
- Remain in line as you depart. Do not pass vehicles in front of
you, please!
Unusual Transportation Arrangements
If your child is to be picked up by any person other than a parent
or guardian or an adult specified on your Orange Information Card on
file in the ILMS Office, you must supply written permission.
Adjusting to a New Environment
No doubt some children, especially very young ones, will cry when
dropped off in the morning. This behavior is normal and we are prepared
to handle it. Therefore, we urge you to assist us in this matter by
making good-byes brief. Simply reassure children that you love them
and will be back soon to pick them up. If you are anxious and nervous,
your children will sense your emotions and will react accordingly.
We all understand how hard it is to leave your child crying, but we
assure you that we will call you if we think your child is really stressed
and needs to be home for the day. Other than that, we hope you will
trust our judgment in handling your children and helping them adjust
to their new environment.
