Please check the Volunteer List for current openings. Book Fair (Tracy de Jong)The theme this year is “Destination Book Fair – Read Around the World.” The book fair is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th until Friday, October 9th. If you are interested in volunteering time to help with the book fair or to schedule “lunch with someone you love,” please email Tracy at tracydejong@bellsouth.net or call her to schedule times (770-595-5571). The committee is looking for items to help decorate – tablecloths, wall hangings, globes, flags, or other items of interest – contact Tracy or Monica Rank (monica.rank1@gmail.com) if you have items to display (they will be returned to you after the fair.) You’ll have the opportunity to “chunk your change” during morning carpool twice during the week. For additional information, visit the website Book Fair Homepage. Fall Event (Meghan Jones)We will be having our fall event this year at the Kinsey Family Farm (http://www.kinseyfamilyfarm.com). Further information will be sent once details have been finalized. There will be a hay ride, apple cannons, face painting and other fun, family activities. So bring a picnic lunch and come enjoy! Peace Garden Update (Sheri Sands)Two people have volunteered to head this committee. Each class will be responsible for one bed each. A Master Gardener from Forsyth County will provide ideas on the types of plants to have and help with a maintenance schedule. Some ideas of added features: bird feeders/bird houses and large boulders for the children to sit on. Once a “master plan” has been created, a budget sheet will be created and distributed to families. Early Dismissal Activities (Melissa Bible)Activities will be scheduled for each month that has an early release day. This past Friday, September 25th, we met at Wills Park for a picnic and play. The next one is scheduled for October 30th and will be at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve. Details will be provided prior to each event. Events & Happenings Around Town (Meghan Jones)A handout was distributed of family-friendly activities in the area for the coming month. The meetings are held at the Starbucks, across from The Avenues. The schedule is as follows:
