Fundraising at ILMS

The school sponsors several fundraisers throughout the year to help cover the costs of classroom materials, playground and building improvements, school social events, etc. Parents work with the ILMS Parent Group to volunteer to help with these fundraising efforts throughout the year. If you have questions, please feel free to contact the school.

Why do we need to raise funds?

Our ultimate goal is to  enhance our children's education by raising money for classroom resources. Ivy League purchases many resources for each classroom, but there are always those extra things that would make the learning environment even greater. That is where parent fundraising comes in. Our teachers keep their own "wish lists" with items that would be valuable additions to their classrooms. Through the following events, parent volulnteers hope to raise the money needed to purchase these materials as a way of contributing to the best learning environment possible for ILMS.

In addition to raising funds for classroom resources, the Parents' Group also hosts events during the year, such as the Holiday Party and the End-of-School Picnic. The ultimate goal is to offer events for community building and fun, as well as find ways to thank the school staff for all that they do to make ILMS a wonderful place for our children.

The following fundraisers are one-time events while others are on-going. And of course, if parents would like to simply make a donation to the school for wish list items for your child's classroom, those are welcome as well.

Special fundraising events sponsored by parents in 2005-2006

  • Chunk your Change
In the Fall and Spring we asked for parents and children to donate spare change to the school’s fundraising goals. For two days (in both October and April) parents and children collected money to go toward wish list items.
  • Fall Festival
The Fall Festival is normally held in October for ILMS families. This is the major fall fundraising activity sponsored by the Parents Group. Funds are gained through admission as well as different sales and activities. A Book Fair is often held in conjunction with the festival.
  • Scholastic Book Fair
This fall we are holding a Book Fair sponsored by Scholastic. We will have a mobile library of new books available to purchase in the Lunch Bunch/ Multi-purpose building (Building 2) in the front.  There will be a diverse selection of books, from bestsellers to picture books, and from favorite series to hot picks for teens.  A portion of the proceeds is given back to the school in the form of credits for books and classroom materials. For more information and hours see the Scholastic Book Fair page.
  • Square 1 Art
Square 1 Art supplies paper which is sent home with your child from school. Students and siblings are encouraged to participate by creating art on the supplied paper. Once the artwork is submitted back to Square 1 Art, they will send back a sample of the artwork for each child on a magnet with an order form of other exciting products (including: note cards, mugs, t-shirts, tote bags, etc.).  You can then order whatever you like in the quantities you prefer.  It is a great way to treasure the artwork your child prepares.  This is a popular fundraiser because it is more about preserving your child’s work than making money for the school.  See details for 2006 on the ILMS Square 1 Art web page. For more information about Square 1 Art, visit the Square 1 Art web site.
  • Playground Plaques
For a $25.00 donation, you or your child can create a beautiful piece of artwork that will be displayed on the school’s playground fence.  Your donation will purchase one wooden plaque that you or your child may paint, and then it will be coated with varnish and mounted to the ILMS fence surrounding the playground. This is a wonderful way for our children to be remembered.  Don’t forget that adults may also purchase a plaque with your family name hand painted on it or you may come in to decorate as well.  To schedule a painting appointment, please contact Tracy Labate at 770-888-2550.
  • First ArtWorks
First ArtWorks supplies paper which is sent home with your child from school. When the artwork is submitted, they take the child’s artwork and professionally frame it using high quality picture framing products. Parents were able to purchase their child’s professionally framed artwork from First Artworks at the ILMS Holiday Party in December.  Prior to the party, First ArtWorks posted every student’s art on their website and give parents a unique Internet access code to view their child’s art. Each child's framed artwork could be purchased for $27.95 and a percentage of the sale went directly to ILMS. For more information visit the First ArtWorks web site.
  • Easter Egg Decorations
For the ILMS Easter Egg Hunt, each student decorated an Easter egg filled with a wish from their teacher's wish list. Parents were able to take an egg home as well as make a donation to help expand their child's classroom resources.
